Karen L. Facemyer - President
Senator Karen Facemyer was hired on July 1, 2006 as Executive Vice President of the Polymer Alliance Zone, Inc® and was named President on October 15, 2006. Her initial duties concentrate on building PAZ through its' unique partnerships among businesses, education and government. Ms. Facemyer obtained her Master’s Degree in Education from Marshall University and her Undergraduate Degree from Glenville State College.
Karen was elected in 2000 as a member of the West Virginia State Senate representing Jackson, Mason, Putnam, and Roane counties. Her responsibilities in the Senate include addressing constituents’ interest, legal research and analysis of issues including tax structure, infrastructure, business friendly environment, insurance, etc. She serves on Finance, Transportation, Agriculture, Banking and Insurance, and Economic Development committees.
She was chosen in 2002 as one of 40 emerging state leaders from across the nation to participate in the Henry Toll Fellowship leadership program sponsored by the Council of State Governments… other honors include 2005 National Appointment as Co-Chair Agricultural Committee - Council of State Government; 2005 Named Legislator of the Year for the Vocational Technical Association in West Virginia and for the southern district.
Karen previously served as a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates from 1993-2000, and taught school in Jackson and Mason counties in West Virginia and Meigs County, Ohio.
She is an All-Star/Life Member of 4-H and a Charter member of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce. The Senator and her husband, Les have two children and reside in Ripley, West Virginia.
Sharon Albert – Executive Assistant
Sharon Albert is the Executive Assistant to the President. She attended West Virginia University and received a Certificate for Office Management, while working toward a degree in Business Administration.
Sharon joined Polymer Alliance Zone, Inc® in May, 2005. She has over 25 years experience in administrative and technical positions. Sharon previously worked at Corning Glass Works and Professional Services of America, Inc.
Sharon is a member of the Professional Women's Association of Parkersburg, additionally she served as President of the Parkersburg South High School Crew Boosters, Treasurer for the Family Support Group for the 146th Air Ambulance Unit of the West Virginia National Guard as well as many committees and offices at Gihon United Methodist Church.
Sharon resides in Parkersburg with her husband Jim and has two sons and 2 grandchildren.
