POSITION: Industrial Equipment Maintenance Teacher

LOCATION: Mason County Career Center

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The applicant must have or obtain a WV Vocational Teaching

permit or certification in Industrial Equipment Maintenance.

In accordance with guidelines established by WVDE; the

applicant must pass both the written and performance

content Specialization Examination (NOCTI) by March

1st of the first year of employment. The applicant must take and pass the Basic Skills Achievement Test before beginning employment and must agree to complete the teacher education program at WVU Institute of Technology within three years from the date of employment. Applicants without a college degree must hold a high school diploma or GED and have four (4)years (8,000 clock hours) of satisfactory and reasonably continuous work experience in Industrial Equipment Maintenance and Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems with certifications in required areas of teaching, (or) obtain certification within one year of employment. In addition, the successful applicant must complete a degree program within five years of employment. Applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree from an approved college or university in an area related to the occupation for which licensure is desired must have three (3) years (6,000 clock hours) of satisfactory and reasonably continuous work experience in Industrial Equipment Maintenance and Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems with certifications in required areas of teaching, (or) obtain certification within one year of employment. The applicant must be computer literate and may be asked to demonstrate basic computer literacy skills as part of the employment process.

EMPLOYMENT TERM: 200 Day Teacher’s Contract with an additional twenty (20) days, (the first year only), to set up and order equipment and merchandise for this new program.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Title: Industrial Equipment Maintenance Teacher

Performance Responsibilities: In addition to all performance responsibilities for classroom teachers listed in WV code, (see attached), the teacher will be responsible for the following:

Develop course outlines and lesson plans for a variety of industrial maintenance courses which may be taught on a rotational year basis. The courses will be available for EDGE and/or Dual Credit from MCTC or possibly other colleges in the future and will include:

· Fundamentals of Industrial Equipment Maintenance

· Fundamentals of Electrical Equipment Maintenance

· Hydraulics and Pneumatic Systems

· Fundamentals of Welding Technology, (in the event that the Welding Instructor is unavailable or an additional instructor is needed to meet student enrollment needs)

· Related electives on an as needed basis; Fundamentals of Programmable Controllers and/or Fundamentals of Machine Tool Technology, (in the event that the Machine Tool Technology Teacher is unavailable or an additional instructor is needed to meet student enrollment needs)

Deliver, direct and supervise student learning, safety rules, and discipline in the classroom/lab. Provide a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and relevant to the occupational work environment.

Reinforce basic skills and fulfill the requirements of I.E.P.’s for special needs students.

Prepare students for required end of course testing and WorkKeys testing for occupational completers.

Maintain and/or obtain personal industry recognized accreditation/certification, (as available).

Obtain and maintain program industry recognized accreditation, (as available).

Participate in advising, guidance and job placement and required follow up reports for students in Industrial Maintenance and other Trade & Industrial Programs.

Maintain student records and submit grades and reports within established timelines.

Serve as an advisor for SkillsUSA, (note may apply for a supplemental contract as an academic coach for SkillsUSA activities beyond the scope of the normal work day).

Maintain shop and equipment according to industry and safety, (OSHA), standards.

Establish and meet with a program advisory committee.

Other duties as assigned by the Vocational Director and/or building level administrator.
